چکیده

Abstract The photopupillary reflex regulates the pupil reaction to changing light conditions. Being controlled by autonomic nervous system, it is a proxy for brain trauma and conditions of patients in critical care. A prompt evaluation traumas can save lives. With simple penlight, skilled clinicians do that, whereas less specialized ones have resort digital pupilometer. However, many low-income countries lack both pupilometers. This paper presents early results our study aiming at designing, prototyping validating an app testing via Android, following European Medical Device Regulation and relevant standards. After manual validation, prototype underwent technical validation against commercial Infrared As result, proposed performed as well measurements better than solution, with lower errors, higher significant correlations, significantly Bland-Altman plots all pupillometry-related measures. design this medical device was based on expertise low-resource settings. kind environments imposes more stringent criteria due to contextual challenges, including clinicians, funds, spare parts consumables, poor maintenance, harsh environmental conditions, which may hinder safe operationalization devices. provides overview how these unique contextual characteristics are cascaded into order contribute Sustainable Development Goal 3 World Health Organization: Good health well-being.
